I just heard a stupid "dont transport firewood" commercial because of emerald ash borers. "I promise not to transport firewood". Now if i go cut deadfall aspen and pine firewood i know that emerald ash borer has never been found in non ash trees in north america, so i know there is no chance of spreading the ash borer if i haul it to whereever i want to go camping, but the state of mn doesnt trust people to be able to tell one log apart from another, so its still against the rules.
