I just learned an important lesson on being ready at all times. I went to a National Black MBA Association Meeting as a member ready to enjoy a great panel discussion. I had changed from my suit and was dressed business casual. The panel consisted of executives from major Fortune 500 companies around Metro Atlanta. The 150 attendees were told at the end to see if you had a business card taped to the bottom of your chair. I was one of the five who did. The President of the Organization then said turn to the panel and give a 20 second pitch on who you are and what you do. I almost panicked, but I said a quick prayer, took the microphone, and based on the audience/panels response I did well. So the key point is stay ready so you never have to get ready, because first impression is everything.
