I just read something in this weekends edition of the Wall Street - TopicsExpress

I just read something in this weekends edition of the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Saturday, 12.27.2014, Page #A-13 Opinions, written by Board Director of the WSJ Peggy Noonan. (Peggy is one of the few journalists I actually like and I trust at the WSJ. She is also a frequent contributor/anchor to Disneys/ABCs Sunday TV News Magazine, This Week with George Stephanoupolos (one of my favorites).) This article really got my attention. Peggy wrote an article to NY Cardinal Thomas Dolan (one of my favorite USA Cardinals, a real rock star and one who was considered for the papal election when Francis was elected), asking him to save St. Thomas More, located on 89th Street, just off Madison, in Carnegie Hill, on the Upper East Side. (Full disclosure: I have attended Mass several times at this church. I know it.) St, Thomas Moore has been there for 75 years. The Archdiocese of NYC is considering closing this church. This church is self-sustaining and sends excess revenue to the NYC Archdiocese and to the Vatican in Rome. The Roman Catholic Church is the GREATEST REFUGE of the poor in the history of the world. This is no organization that even comes close. (It is the primary reason I am a practicing Roman Catholic.) St. Thomas More helps support the Archdiocese throughout NYC and NY. Cardinal Dolan commands my extreme respect. But let me offer Cardinal Dolan and the NYC Archdiocese an alternative if the NYC Archdiocese needs to raise capital (I suspect it does). Sell grand private mission in Midtown, just down the street from Saks Fifth Avenues real estate which is rumored to be worth $4 billion. (Cardinal Dolan DOES NOT live in that grand private mission, but a small, humble apartment down the street, funded by donors from St. Patricks Cathedral (another Cathedral I have spent many Masses in many times). St. Patricks is one of the true great structures on earth.) Cardinal Dolan, I humbly and respectfully implore you to sell the grand private mission if you have to raise capital. Please leave St. Thomas More intact. I agree with Ms. Noonan. I hope this message makes it to you and you give it consideration. My hope is save both the grand private mission and St. Thomas Moore Church. NYC, NY has the largest concentration of billionaires on this earth. They need to step up and help you raise capital and they need to do it today. They can and should help fund this issue, if there is one. Thank you for your time. Respectfully, Stephen Samuel Santoro
