I just really wanted to take a moment to give a huge THANK YOU to - TopicsExpress

I just really wanted to take a moment to give a huge THANK YOU to all of you for supporting, being interested in, and driving me to do something that I have always loved but was a little scared to pursue. It has been a wonderful adventure in my life and I have all of you to thank for that. Below are just some of my brief thoughts that I wanted to share since I am making this 200+ likes thing on Facebook a fun “milestone” of sorts! Feel free to give your thoughts and opinions, of course! Per usual, you all rock. ☺ Anthropology is about the studies of what humans have created and participated in, may it be in the past, present, or future. But…what about visual anthropology? I have been considering this and think that taking into account the medium of photography, film, and other related visual arts is about new and/or shifts in current paradigms about the arts overall (which I think is pretty exciting!). And, therefore, where visual anthropology starts to lay its foundation. It is one of the conceptual ideas that really drives my thoughts when it comes to the architectural and natural landscape work that I portray (or at least try to portray!). Sometimes it seems unimaginable to think about all the history, beauty, anguish, and change around us. But, being able to capture a moment of feeling through something like a photograph is one of the many reasons why I love photography! I leave you with one of my favorite artists, Robert Adams, quoting the definition of art: “...art is a discovery of harmony, a vision of disparities reconciled, or shape beneath confusion.”
