I just sent Indiegogo a note through the Contact Us form on the site. I think its worth doing to try and force an eventual change in policy, even though its unlikely to help with this particular problem. Heres what I wrote: --- Im sure youve read a number of these already, but please finish reading this note. I am one of the backers of the Kreyos smart watch. You will (as youre competent folk) know that it hasnt gone exactly as pitched. In fact, the campaign seems to have been built on a foundation of lies, including claims about nearly complete software, established hardware designs, and so on. These have proven to be false, and the delivered perks havent even come close to the stated feature set. I realise that as backers we were funding the campaign, not placing orders. However, the apparent lack of recourse for what is looking more and more like fraud – perpetrated by a campaign starter but supported by your platform – has left a significant number of people feeling seriously dissatisfied with Indiegogo as a platform. Given that you say the integrity of your platform is important (Our in-house team of experts reviews the data and customer feedback closely, and takes appropriate action to protect the integrity of our platform.) I would hope that you are more serious about this than your communications with Kreyos backers imply. However, my own confidence in crowd funding as a concept and Indiegogo specifically has been severely shaken. Not because Ive lost a bit of money on a scam-like campaign, but because of your apparent refusal to pay any attention. In my role as a technology journalist issues such as this inform my understanding of products, services and how they work. I hope I will be able to add further and more positive understanding in the near future. I look forward to your reply.
