We have selected a tour bus company (Bellair Charters) We have chosen our tour guide for our Thursday night and Friday morning tours. (Theresa Werlech – Step on Guides) We have selected some of our tours. Thursday night we will go down to the Water Front for Dining on your own. From our Tour Guide: There is an emphasis on seafood at the following restaurants: Ivars, Fishermens, Anthonys, Elliotts, and the Crab Pot. A favorite for specialty burgers is the Red Robin Friday morning will be a tour of the Boeing Plant which will be immediately followed by a tour of the city and surrounding area. From our Tour Guide: 1. Traveling north we see Lake Union, home to hundreds of floating homes. 2. The University of Washington and Husky Stadium are seen as we move along the ship canal taking us through the colorful Fremont neighborhood with unexpected outdoor art (to include an enormous statue of Lenin!). 3. The Government Locks and fish ladders are the next destination for the clients to stretch their legs and see the salmon through viewing windows as well as yachts going in both directions to the lakes and Salmon Bay. 4. Magnolia Bluff is a neighborhood of stunning gardens. Many of them are designed by Japanese gardeners who sculpted plants for the bonsai effect. Magnolia bluff offers views of the harbor and the Olympic mountains. 5. Our icon, the Space Needle at the Seattle Center is next on the tour. It is also home to a music museum which the architect designed to look like the smashed guitars of the rock stars. This stop is usually for a photo opportunity. It is up to the client as to whether a trip to the observation deck is included. 6. The Seattle waterfront is the docking area for cruise ships and ferry boats. The route along the waterfront takes us to the historic district. 7. Pioneer Square offers an up close look at glass blowing in the oldest glass blowing studio as well as a visit to the Klondike Gold Rush Museum (free) and an opportunity to sip our local coffee brew at the many coffee houses. 8. The tour typically ends at the Pike Place Market..home to the flying fish and dramatic displays of flowers and vegetables. 9. Plan on setting aside three hours for the tour. However, it can be adjusted to your time frame. 10. Outlying areas include Snoqualmie Falls, wineries..all within 45 minutes of Seattle. Friday Evening will be a Dinner Cruise, which has not been set up yet. Saturday Morning is our Ship’s Meeting and Silent Auction Saturday Afternoon is still open Saturday Evening is going to be our Banquet I am proud to announce that I have contacted the Northwest Navy Band and have a tentative agreement for them to play during our Social Gathering just before our Saturday Night Banquet. I still need help with (2) items. If someone knows of a photographer that would like to take our group and couples pictures just before our Saturday night banquet, please contact me so I can give you some of our needs and requests. If someone knows of a DJ that is not overly expensive that can DJ from approximately 5:00 – 10:00 during our Saturday night banquet, please contact me so I can give you some of our needs and requests. . If you have any suggestions about what to do, where to go, what not to miss, or how to improve our reunion, please pass them on. There is a lot to see and do in the area but we only have a few days to fit it in. I would suggest getting there 1 or 2 days early like many of us do at all of our reunion locations. Hope to see you all there. Eric Miller Reunion Chairman
