I just watched "Mindhunters" on cable, a not-very-good trying-really-hard-to-be-Saw psychological thriller. All that aside, I was actually impressed by the ending. No, not the formulaic way everything got revealed, nor the way the last three standing were the killer, the girl, and the presumed dead good guy. But when the girl is fighting the killer, usually the presumed dead good guy would come out of nowhere to defeat the killer. But in this movie, the girl gains the upper hand through cleverness and a test of physical ability, and the presumed dead good guy only shows up to be a corroborating witness when the killer tries to claim all the stuff that happened would be her word against his. Its sad that a fairly empowering moment like that happened in an otherwise-not-so-good film.
