This is a critical vote for the future of our world: "Today I received a glossy 4 page ad mailer in my mailbox asking me to "take a closer look at the facts" on I-522 which, if passed would give Washington consumers the right to know if their food is genetically engineered. It took me about two seconds to realize that the slick and expensive piece of PR work I was holding was the first salvo fired by the six financial backers (yes, just six), who are desperate to inject controversy and confusion into a campaign that gives consumers the opportunity to make informed decisions about the food they put into their bodies. The boldest claims made by the No 522 group, a million dollar club led by chemical makers Monsanto and DuPont, is that 522 would cost taxpayers and consumers millions of dollars in new regulations and price hikes. Both claims are patently false. As a licensed health professional, I am voting Yes on 522 and encourage voters to do the same.
