I kind of love this post. And a lot of what she the author says could easily apply to folks who consistently feel their lives revolve around food in a potentially negative way. Have you ever responded: No thanks, Im Paleo. to an offer of bread or a piece of cake? I dont personally use this language or label myself, I simply make choices that feel good for me and move on. I ask about gluten in menu items, and avoid what I want to avoid, but it doesnt rule my life to a degree that it might if I had a severe gluten allergy. I eat white rice now and then because it feels just fine for me. I dont stress over it, or wonder if its Paleo. As much as I teach about a grain-free way of eating that is typically classified as Paleo, I absolutely agree that finding what works FOR YOU is important. I do think there are often longer-term implications or potentially deleterious effects of certain things we may consume that we dont feel or notice instantly, so I say this with a bit of caution, but if you find that eating copious amounts of grains works for you, so be it. Im not here to argue with anyone, simply to help folks find what may feel best that they might not have assumed before. My favorite quote is at the end: Because that’s what I needed then. And this is what I need now. And finally I’ve learned that it’s not about the label, it’s not about rules, it’s about listening to your body. It’s about doing what’s best for your body. It’s about experimenting with your body. But mostly, it’s about loving your body. mindbodygreen/0-13202/i-stopped-being-vegan-the-world-kept-spinning.html
