I know I just posted this yesterday, but it is really important to me to get as much input as I can so I am going to repost it today without the shameless plug for business likes at the bottom. (It seems that somehow when I included that it made it so that all that would share was the link to our page) Please take the time to respond. I know that many of you even have history backgrounds, either by vocation or avocation and I would love to know what you think. I am starting a project for Practical Education Publications (the business my sister and I have been working on) and would like to get input from the very diverse group of people I interact with here. The concept is a calendar of important dates in US History. I am tentatively aiming to call in Celebrating your way through U.S. History so it will include things like the birthdays of presidents, civil rights leaders, founding fathers, american inventors, etc. It would also include the anniversaries of important events, battles, etc. To this end I am trying to create a comprehensive list of the people and events that should be included so I am asking the diverse group of people here if they had to pick the top 10 events/people in U.S. History what would they be?(If you know the date associated with it please list that as well) I am pretty sure that the following would/could be on everyones list so please dont include them: 1. Signing of Declaration of Independence 2. Ratification of the Constitution 3. Anything to do with the Bill of Rights 4. The Emancipation Proclamation 5. Start and end of the American Revolution 6. The bombing of Pearl Harbor 7. The end of the Civil War 8. The beginning and end of Either World War 9. The birthday of any president (I already have this list) 10. The assassination of JFK or Martin Luther King 11. September 11 Finally, there are a good number of events/people that we are all probably familiar with and would need no explanation. If you include something that might be lesser know please add a short explanation/description. You can also add links to more information. Since I am asking for people to give me their opinions about what they consider important and why, I am also asking for the following: THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO START A DISCUSSION, ARGUMENT, OR ANY OTHER FORM OF DISCOURSE.
