I know it has been a while since I have given an update on my mom....so here goes. She went to Duke on Monday to sign all the paperwork and to have some last minute test done to start the stem cell transplant process. Today she went to Forsyth to have another PET Scan done to see where we were with the cancer. Starting tomorrow thru Tuesday she will have a shot that will help boost her stem cells. After her shot on Sunday, her and my dad will travel on to Chapel Hill. They will be staying with Uncle Bob and Aunt Nancy who have graciously opened there house to them to let them stay. On Monday she will have her port-a-cath removed and a central line will be placed in her. On Tuesday they will start drawing her stem cells out and start freezing them. She may have to have this done on Wednesday also depending on how many they can get on Tuesday. Right now it is our understanding that she will come home Wednesday or Thursday due to the fact that Dr. Long will be on vacation and he wants to be there when she has to start her chemo. Please continue to keep her and our family in your prayers because this next month is going to be a very difficult time in our lives.
