I know it is forced rest time...I really am looking after my body! As I get myself in the space to begin this march, I want to acknowledge that I have a great team of people behind me. Our Logistics Team is in place, Our Administration and Financial Team is in place and our Operations Team is in place and I feel inspired! I truly feel like this is an opportunity for the greatness of this land, this nation and its people to open up and show the kindness, support and love that is needed to really embrace PTSD. The old stigma, stereotypes and judgements can be dropped now...we know that PTSD is not a disease, a sickness or an ?. It is trauma that we were exposed to doing what we signed up to do and honestly doing what we love to do! I am not crazy, insane or psycho... I am the man or woman next door that wants nothing more than to find peace in their life, stillness in their mind and love in their hearts. I am not just a soldier, I am a parent, a spouse, a son/daughter, a friend, a colleague and a human being. I want the expression of emotions to come back through the veil like they did before the trauma. In my case, to open the steel box that my family and friends prayed I would open and let them into. I know this was a frightening time for me. I want to wake up an breath deeply that first conscious breath and think of my kids, my love and the adventure that awaits me this day...I am choosing to take another step towards being done with the cynical perspective that keeps me wrapped tightly; another step towards the acceptance of my situation and the gifts I see in it; another step towards forgiving myself on a deeper level to allow the support of those around me and another step towards creating a space in myself that I can carefully choose to replace with the things that I want! My name is Steve, I have PTSD and I am ok! Good night and peace to you all!
