I know many are hurting and asking, “Why?” with the latest - TopicsExpress

I know many are hurting and asking, “Why?” with the latest news of our community losing a great man in Ryan Cunningham. A man who has given so much to our town, and surrounding, through his compassion, kindness, humor, love and light. I don’t really share this view of mine with very many people because I know that some just won’t understand but, today it seems acceptable… Since 2007, when my family and I attended 7 or so funerals in a 14 month span, I had pretty much given up on the “church” and “religion”. I watched my Mother, Mamaw, grandfather, grandmother, great aunt, young family friend, and close family friend leave this world. That year all but broke me and I had given up on “God”. Now don’t get me wrong… I DO believe that there is a higher power. We, as humans, would be ignorant to think otherwise. I just feel that “God” is whoever or whatever makes you a better person. Provides you with the strength to become the best person you can be. Whether it be God, Buddha, Mother Earth… Some of you may look at me differently for this… and you know… that is okay. When my momma passed away, I could NOT fathom why SHE had to die. I was pissed. I was falling apart. She had given so much! It should have been ME! What had *I* given this world?!? It took time… LOTS of it, really. But what has gotten me through is to think of it this way… Our higher power has given us all a job here in this world. As my sisters says, “We are all just souls in our Earth suits.” And mom had a quota on how many lives she was here to touch. To teach and to love. And, well… mom was just really REALLY good at her job. She touched so many lives in, really, a short amount of time. Those of us here on Earth are the ones who have to manage without her here. SHE is in a better place. I still have bad days and I miss her like CRAZY but I know she lived and loved while she was here. Ryan did the same. That boy lived. He LOVED. He touched so many lives and helped so many people. He reached his quota. And so many people are better people just for having met him. I like to think he and my momma and Larrey Gale are all playing guitar together and watching over us. They are ALL around us, friends… in the sun shining down, the rain the falls from the sky. In the wind blowing through the trees. In the melody of every song… they are with us… To his family, My thoughts are with you...
