I know that High School curricula are busy, crowded and college oriented, but I would like to see a return to Civics classes, in order that our young understand just how government is supposed to work, and a return to Home Economics classes for both boys AND girls, so that cooking and shopping, cleaning and bill paying, and most importantly, managing money, arent left to the school of hard knocks. Somehow, we seem to have left some of the Basics in the dust as weve tried to prepare our young for the future. Weve forgotten, for example, that not all of them will go to college. Not all of them will even finish High School. So these classes must start in Eighth Grade and continue in Freshman year of High School - before they have a chance to drop out.
