I know this is going to sound strange considering I own a Marketing & PR Agency but, Im really tired of the keeping up appearances mentality. I dont mean angry, upset tired, I mean tired, tired. Im so discouraged by the prevailing mindset of being seen with the right people, being Facebook friends with the right people, and blah, blah, blah. The clawing and digging for the next best Photo op has left me feeling like I need to buy a cabin somewhere deep in the woods and learn how to grow a garden. When I attend an event I really just want to talk to people but, you can always tell who the important people are. Theyre the ones you cant get to because of all the people standing around them asking for photos. I simply cant live that superficial lifestyle and Im tired of watching those that think its the right thing to do and Im tired of people telling me its necessary in life and in business. I wont do it, I cant do it. So, what does it take to know that the person extending their friendship is actually genuine in making the offer? How many hours will be invested in people that will fade out when they realize you arent as interested in benefitting them as they were hoping you would be? If you happen to be one of those people wondering where I am because its been so long since youve seen me, now you know why. Im busy trying to live out my purpose of helping build the local and global economy and giving others the opportunity to do the same. Anybody else experience this and/or feel the same way?
