I know what it is like to be brought up with unconditional love (a part from my parents). In my life that came from my grandmother, and grandfather who has passed away 7 years ago. There aren’t many words in the world to describe the love of grandparents for their grandchildren. I spent most of my childhood & teen years with them. I use to spend my school holidays staying with my grandparents. Kicking the footy with my grandfather every now and then, having them cheer me on during my footy games etc. I remember the time when I took a mark and went back to line up for goal, only to realize that my grandfather had taken over the goal umpiring position. My heart skipped a beat and I knew I had to score that goal! Why? Because even if I had kicked it out on the full, he would still give it a goal (luckily I scored). They are always there to fill that gap, whether its teen tantrums when crying to someone or simply whining and complaining to your heart’s satisfaction is one comfort that only grandparents can provide. Sadly in today’s world families have disintegrated and children/teens miss out on spending enough time with their elders and remain off limits from that special love that they could have enjoyed from their grandparents. The busy life that we complain about today shouldnt be an excuse to keep us from reuniting with the extended families more often, we need to reach out to the older generation actively especially those who have children, for the sake of your kids. Spending time with the oldies definitely plays an important role for the little ones and it also shapes their character and personality in many ways... Be sure to call now and tell your grandparents you love them and let them know how much they mean to you! Give them the attention they deserve! If they are no longer with you, they are still listening and are forever in our hearts! I am so blessed to have an absolutely amazing grandma! I miss you and love you grandma!
