I know who you are. I know what you want. If you are looking for an easy box office payday, I can tell you I wont let them give you any money. What I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for filmmakers like you. If you let plans making Taken 4 go now, thatll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you dont, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill your movie. -Geno Mills While I didnt think Taken 3 was as bad as Taken 2, I still was pretty underwhelmed. The whole time I was wishing that I was watching a better movie. So in honor of that, here are some movies that I would have rather been watching instead of Taken 3. To make it fair, I stuck to movies that involved the rescue or saving of human life. The Princess Bride: Farmboy turned pirate goes on a mission to rescue his “true love”, a man on a quest to avenge his fathers death and Andre the Giant dropping rhymes...what more do you need? Die Hard: New York cop has to rescue his estranged wife, as well as a whole Christmas party full of guests, from a thief claiming to be a terrorist all while barefoot and dropping one-liners. Black Hawk Down: Soldiers in Somalia has to rescue some of their brothers after a helicopter is shot down during a mission...lots of shooting ensues. Olympus Has Fallen: Not to be mistaken with the lame White House Down. A former secret service agent has to save President Aaron Eckhart after terrorists infiltrate the White House...terrorists being destroyed ensues. Escape From New York: The Presidents plane is brought down into the maximum security prison known as New York City. New prisoner and soon to be anti-hero Snake Plissken is “convinced” to rescue The President. Blind Fury: A Vietnam vet blinded during the war is trained how to wield a sword. He returns home and helps a former military friend rescue his son from a crooked casino boss he owes money to. The Raid: Redemption: A SWAT team infiltrates the building of a drug lord, the mission goes wrong and that is when the insanity begins. While not the main plot of the story, our main character has a side mission of his own to “rescue” someone close to him. This is one of the best action movies in years. Sure you will have to deal with subtitles, but it is worth it. You might as well check out the sequel as well because it is awesome too. Django Unchained: Former slave turned bounty hunter and his mentor employ a complicated plan to save the former slaves wife from the Candie Land Plantation. Krull: A prince searches for a legendary weapon that will help him save his princess and destroy alien invaders. A young Liam Neeson plays one of the princes companions. Tears of the Sun: Bruce Willis and his team of Navy SEALs have to rescue a doctor from a Nigerian jungle, but she wont leave without a large group of refugees. The Terminator: A man in love travels through time to save the life of his future commander/son by saving his sons mom from a cyborg Arnold Schwarzenegger. Argo: Ben Affleck makes up a fake Hollywood movie to rescue stranded American Embassy workers from Iran during the U.S. Hostage crisis in 1980. Alan Arkin and John Goodman are awesome in this as well. Leon: The Professional: A film by the creator of Taken. A hitman saves the life of a young girl that lives a few apartments down from him. He reluctantly begins her training as a hitman. Jean Reno is quiet and cool, Gary Oldman is nuts and this is Natalie Portmans best role ever...as well as her first. Man on Fire: Former CIA operative turned bodyguard Denzel Washington is nearly killed when the little girl he is paid to protect is kidnapped. Denzel goes all Denzel on the kidnappers to get her back. Commando: Arnold Schwarzeneggers daughter is taken from him and kills a bunch of people to get her back. The Delta Force: Chuck Norris takes on airline terrorists...Chuck wins! The Missing in Action Series: Chuck Norris takes on Vietnam...Chuck wins! Taken: ...because it is way better than the sequels. But remember, its only just one guys opinion. Geno
