I learned today that Cathy Wilson passed away on August 14. My heart is breaking for the loss of a classmate and especially for her family. From the Vicksburg paper: Cathy Wilson Neill, 64, a retired Hinds County employee, died Thursday, August 14, 2014 at River Region Hospital in Vicksburg. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, August 17 and 1 pm Monday, August 18 at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg. The memorial service will be at 2 pm Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Neill was born in Jackson, Mississippi on October 5, 1949. She spent most of her life in the Jackson area and graduated from Provine High School in 1967. She was a long-time public servant, having served with the State of Mississippi and Hinds County in various positions within the Tax Assessors Office, Sheriffs Office, and Workers Compensation Commission. Survivors include her loving husband of 21 years, Kirk Neill, of Utica; her three sons, Johnny Alford and his wife Rita, of Seattle, WA; Robby Alford and his wife Lupe, of Navarre, FL; and Austin Neill, of Hattiesburg, MS; and four grandchildren, Amuia, Elijah, Alicea, and Jake Alford. She was preceded in death by her father, John Purvis Wilson and mother, Catherine Howell Wilson, and two brothers, John P. Wilson, Jr., and Frank H. Wilson.
