I left the house with Katelyn and Jackson @5:30 to attempt to catch some catfish on moms property ... At six and eight my children have not learned the patience it takes to properly fish ... this is a parenting oversight that will be corrected. No fish, several bites (fish and bugs) lost patience, off in the eyes ... twas not a great evening ... Until ... Katelyn asked me if there were any cool buildings around grams house ... Game on! I am a Kansas History buff so we went through Lecompton and I pointed out for Titus (look it up) Lane University (look it up) Hotel Windsor (again) and The Reformed United Breathern Church ... Katelyn was fascinated, and Jackson feigned interested because, well, Im still cool in his eyes... Then to top it off Jackson remembered my father is buried near to Lecompton so we stopped and visited his grave ... While I was pulling some weeds around his marker Katelyn spouts you know, we should really sing something ... I think your dad would have liked that ... what do you think, dad? so - there we were, filthy from fishing, holding hands singing Amazing Grace over their PePaws resting place ... I wish I was as cool as my kids are
