I like what Norma Ndove said in a post recently. In these times when almost every designer goes Java and calls it African or African inspired (its so trendy now I am tempeted to dislike Java print); these times when almost every band padhorobha is playing mbira then they are called traditional or where someone sings a ballad, or scats and they are called a Jazz musician (zvinotofizura), the best will always stand out because they always innovate and step up. Well done to Tsitsi Mutendi, Mucha is now in Edgars Zimbabwe!!! Norma got me thinking. I am currently in the States for a program called Onebeat- a group of fantabulous musicians will be together for the next month. The virtuosity I have witnessed in the two days I have been here is amazing. So it doesnt matter if there are billions of flute players in the world. If you are talented, you put in the hours and you are a passionate and innovative creative mind- beautiful as they come- then just do you and you will forever stand out. #1beat, #onebeat, #mucha, #sitatthetable
