I live in a 115 year-old building that is chock-full of salvaged - TopicsExpress

I live in a 115 year-old building that is chock-full of salvaged materials: From 3000 sq ft of salvaged maple flooring to architectural pieces, to lighting and hardware. I drive cars with 300,000 miles on them. 90% of our furnishings are antique, many of which I have restored or refinished. But nothing irritates me more than buzzwords like sustainability or environmental consciousness. Those words are nearly always attached to BS, hype and marketing. They sucker in people who want to be attached to movements they think sound cool, but who are actually far too lazy to really make a serious effort. So they buy in. They are cool by association. Posers. And, they actually think they are somehow special by furthering the dog and pony show. Heres the deal: If you want to REALLY live the lifestyle, do it. Dont wear it on your sleeve to be cool. And if you dont...FINE! There is NOTHING wrong with that. Live life. Dont get sucked in to the hype. Dont let Madison Avenue Faux Environmentalists guilt into phony causes. Just be real.
