I live in a modular home (a double-wide trailer) in the Sierra - TopicsExpress

I live in a modular home (a double-wide trailer) in the Sierra Nevada Mountains about an hour west of Reno. Its a fairly new location for me. Ive lived here maybe six weeks, my first autumn in this house. What I didnt know when I moved in is that this house in set under an acorn tree. I noticed all the beautiful, tall pines. I noticed the deer and the wild turkeys. But I did not notice the oak. Well, I suppose I did notice the oak but havent lived near one for a long time so didnt really take it seriously. So now its late October. Chill in the air, frost soon on the pumpkin. This house has an attached car port under a aluminum awning. Thats nice when it rains. But heres the thing: An entire tree full of friggin acorns is dropping on my roof and aluminum awning at random moments all day and all night. Its like a slo-mo Japanese water torture with a football helmet and golf balls. When the dang acorn lands on the roof, it sounds like someone upstairs dropped a shoe. Then the little fkr rolls off the roof and it sounds like the shoe has just fallen down the stairs, stair by stair by stair. As you know acorns are not entirely round. That produces a wobble effect. When the friggin acorn hits the aluminum awning it sounds like someone just dropped a screwdriver on the hood of your car. Then, in slow motion it wobbles across the awning until it drops off the roof and hits the ground and sounds a lot like a solid chip shot hitting the green. All day. All night. For 37 days so far. I know a lady who lives with her other in a two-room (room, not bedroom) cottage in town. Their cottage has a tin roof and it was built under a walnut tree. Acorn. Walnut. Every night when I go to bed I know Ill sleep better than that lady and her true love. For that I am thankful.
