I live near the dog pound & I cant tell you how many dogs & puppies Ive had to take over there. They know me there.... I did some checking at the beginning, but quit checking after I found out the older dogs usually didnt get adopted.... people think its ok to drop dogs off out here because were on the edge of the city & the pound is nearby. Unfortunately, they didnt socialize some of these dogs or make them learn basics or manners& now its very hard to help them. Weve had to put out humane traps for a few pitbulls that may have been fighters & were killing cats & small dogs in the area & were not friendly to anyone. I felt so bad for them. One dog that was dropped off tore my expensive vinyl greenhouse apart as a fun thing to do - bored I guess.... Fortunately for our pound someone left them money & they built 2 new dog runs that are heated & a/c w/ outdoor area for each cage & then they also bought a nice large trailer used for adoption events at PetsMart & certain city festival functions & thats been a help. But a couple of times when I was taking dropped off dogs there, people were leaving a family pet because they were moving or it wouldnt housebreak & my heart broke.....
