I logged in to Facebook tonight and, based on things Ive read on here in recent weeks, expected to see, arguments, bitterness, offensive remarks and insults. Instead Ive seen people lay their cards on the table with carefully thought out, eloquent and sensitive closing statements that justify their position far better than any of the politicians in this campaign have managed. Ive read (and taken part in) genuinely friendly banter between both sides that ended with either side wishing the other good luck. Ive lost count of how many times Ive seen the phrase regardless of the outcome or do what you feel is right. I shouldnt be surprised by any of this though, after all weve been lied to by pretty much everybody ever since this referendum was announced. Every half truth, off the cuff comment and rumour has been manipulated by the media, the campaigners and social media then touted as fact. Yet, based on this, tomorrow were expected to make an irreversible decision and blindly put our faith in one of two very weird looking men who have spent more campaign time bickering than putting our minds at ease, why should we fall out or blame each other? I certainly dont know what the future holds for Scotland and, unfortunately, regardless of who you are, how convinced you are or how many articles or blogs youve read, shared or written, neither do you. I am however, willing to put my faith in the people of Scotland, regardless of what happens months, years or decades from now, tomorrows result is what the majority of the Scottish people want and hopefully we can all accept it and move on together with the same Scottish spirit and good nature displayed on my timeline this evening.
