I love bookstores and I hate to see them all going away, but... Last night we stopped off for coffee at a local Barnes And Noble. I found a paperback book on social media that I decided to buy. I checked the price and it was $26. After adding in the tax I was looking at $28 plus change at checkout. Wow, for a paperback book! I checked the price on Amazon and found it for $18, free shipping with my Amazon Prime, and no sales tax. $10 savings on a $28 book is huge and I have to sadly admit that I used the bookstore to browse - I even paged through the book, and then bought it online. Should I feel guilty for showrooming or should bookstores get more competitive with online prices? I did buy two cups of coffee and a cookie, so I spent $5...
