I love these reviews... I have read a lot of books in this fantasy/crime/romance category (Hush,Hush, Evernight, Twilight and Fallen series) and this book was definitely at the top. It had all the intrigue of Hush, Hush, ten times edgier romance than Twilight, and characters that you care about so much more than in Fallen. This book has edge. It wasnt afraid to get raw and terrifying in its exploration of an underground not far from plausible in the real world. The relationship between Aiden and Jane was constructed to perfection. He cares about and protects her as much as any girl would swoon over, but some of his actions show his imperfections and make him that much more real and engaging. Jane is still wrestling with the death of her brother and emotionally closed off and guarded, but instead of just melting in the presence of Aiden, she keeps him at an arms length early on and her stubborn nature adds a compelling dynamic to Aidens efforts to keep her safe. This book was a truly satisfying read, combining the dark mystery and unusual romance I was craving. I have already purchased and cannot wait to read the next book.
