I love this.....TRULY LOVE IT.....but I would never buy from someone with the mindset who wrote the following ebay auction description....serious collectors.....humph.... .....rolls eyes...... ebay/itm/NBC-1983-84-V-Visitors-Alien-Mothership-TV-Series-Movie-Filming-Prop-Model-/281385160041?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4183dccd69 This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you to own a piece of science-fiction television history. I am offering up for auction the original, large – scale filming model prop of the alien Visitor Mothership from the 1983–84 NBC television TV mini-series and weekly series V. This is the one and ONLY large-scale filming model that was made for the second miniseries, V: The Final Battle. All of the Mothership scenes in the original 1983 mini-series were all matte paintings. It wasnt until the second mini-series that an actual filming model was made. This was used throughout V: The Final Battle, as well as during the weekly series that followed. Smaller Mothership models have appeared for auction in the past, but they were all smaller models that were used primarily to film the multiple Mothership scene around Earths moon for the opening credits of the weekly series. This was the only large one ever made. It is made of fiberglass composite and measures 2-1/2 feet in circumference, which correlates to 30 inches. It is approximately 6 inches tall. It is a very large and imposing model, which I have had hanging in my home for the 20 years that I have owned it. I acquired it from someone who used to work in the Warner Bros. art department who, in turn, got the model when V was canceled. I was a huge fan of the show back in the day, and it pains me to even consider parting with it now, but I need the money. Please note the following specifics of the model. The previous owner separated the top part of the saucer from the bottom to install a light so that he could illuminate the fiber-optic windows in the outer circumference of the Mothership. A small light switch was installed in the landing bay node at the very bottom center of the model so that the interior light could be turned off and on. It no longer works. When the top section of the saucer was reattached to the bottom section, it was reattached slightly off center, which if you look closely at the model, can be seen. There are also a few chips to the outer edge of the upper saucer. Lastly, there is an approximately 2 x 3 inch cut – out opening in the top edge of the saucer, which is where a static filming bar used to be attached for the stop-motion filming that was required to make the Mothership appear as if it was flying through space. This is not damage, but an actual part of the model. When it is hanging, as in these pictures, you cannot see the opening in the top. I disclose all of this information as honest disclosure of what you will be purchasing when you buy it. This auction is geared for serious collectors only - actors, actresses, producers, professional sports players, museums, and other wealthy individuals or organizations who make this kind of money in a few hours work or less. I will NOT entertain offers of lesser amounts, so please do not contact me to ask. I will not respond. This is not a lot of money for an original spaceship prop of this nature. The original Starship Enterprise model from Star Trek sold at auction for $450,000, and the Enterprise-A sold for $250,000. Other famous Hollywood movie props have sold for millions of dollars or hundreds of thousands. This is a bargain in comparison! Furthermore, the winning bidder MUST come to my home and sign a written statement that he has purchased this original V prop and transport the model him/herself to wherever its final destination will be. I will NOT ship the model anywhere on this planet and run the risk of it being damaged, destroyed, or the winning buyer claiming it never arrived. eBay has a tendency to favor its buyers in any purchase disputes instead of its sellers, and I want NO trouble! This is the ORIGINAL V Mothership and any serious fan and collector will know that just from looking at the pictures. There is no certificate of authenticity. They didnt really exist back at that time. If you have any doubt, you can ask professionals related to the studio or the production of the TV show to verify the authenticity, but I guarantee it is original! Payment is expected within 3 days of the auction end or an eBay dispute will be opened. Pick up and transportation must be arranged for after that and in as timely a manner as possible. Serious bidders only! Own this piece of rare television history while you can!
