I meant to post this on Veterans Day but forgot to, this song was recorded by Luke Stricklin, an Arkansas National Guard Soldier. This is the acoustic version he recorded from FOB Warrior in Baghdad. He was able to actually cut an album including this song when he returned home. I personally hounded almost every night club and radio station in San Antonio for about six months to get him some exposure and Cowboys along with Gruene Country Store did just that. I bought his CD as soon as it came out and the kids thought his song Does this Make Me Bad fit me. There is also a video out there somewhere of him and Kid Rock doing a mix of this song and Warrior (Citizen Soldier), which is another favorite of mine. Yes, I am a Kid Rock fan, for those who seem to think I am old, he has talent, a lot of energy and gives back to his community without seeking publicity. I am always a fan of the lil guy, especially when he is a veteran. Every soldier who has ever deployed (officially or otherwise) can relate to these songs because they apply to any geographical separation from family when the defecation is hitting the cooling apparatus.
