I must confess this made me cry......Listening to this young man, - TopicsExpress

I must confess this made me cry......Listening to this young man, Avinoam Baral, speak with such honesty, integrity and raw emotion was so palpable that his comments tugged at my heart and I felt like I was listening to a son of mine....I wanted to reach out and hug him and make it all better....I truly felt his pain. To think that the Students for Justice in Palestine, of which he is the President, brought a divestment resolution to UCLAs student council yesterday which by sheer happenstance fell on November 18, 2014 i.e. the day on which the massacre took place in Jerusalem made what he said even more poignant and profound. It took a lot of courage for him to say what he said and listening to him all I could think of is that he is simply just Speaking Truth to Power with no embellishment. His last sentence was: .....and Mom, I know youre watching, I hope I make you proud.” All I can say Avinoam is that you not only made your mom proud but you made countless moms and dads all over the world proud too - Kol HaKavod! I must add: The divestment resolution with a vote of 8-2-2 did pass, calling on the university to divest from the following companies: Boeing, Caterpillar, Cement Roadstone Holdings, Cemex, General Dynamics, General Electric, Hewlett-Packard, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and United Technologies. I fervently hope that wherever possible, people/companies who are against this bias against one country only i.e. Israel, will use their best efforts to award contracts to companies on the boycott list.....this should be the Reaction to that Action!!
