I must express a deep rooted problem that I see among my people. One that is so very disheartening, hurtful and most importantly disrespectful. These are my thoughts and I stand firm on them-even if I must stand alone. I scroll my timeline and to my disappointment, there is a constant in sharing videos of our people fighting and hurting one another. Showing absolutely no compassion or concern for each other. Yes, this is a part of life in ALL cultures but I am speaking of MY own!!!! I dont understand how any of us can see this behavior as entertainment. I know that the problem begins with those who want to cause harm and also to those who desire to exploit it. But why are we giving power to the ignorant by being a part of the problem? You must take responsibility if you do this. You must understand what it is really saying. Our forefathers have fought so hard (although they should not have had to do so) to provide a place for us and in return we continue to mock their efforts and the sacrifices that theyve made. Mocking ourselves in this way is a confirmation of self loathing. If you think highly of yourself and your culture as you THINK you do, this behavior would never, EVER be tolerated. This behavior perpetuates the stereotype that our culture desperately needs to overcome. Other cultures must have a field day when they view our lack of unity and self worth. They pity us! They wonder how and why we degrade and discard our own people. And we wonder why things arent getting better for us in the things we actually have control over. It should not be a surprise that other cultures fear us. I dont blame them either. I fear ANYONE who happily exploits and disrespects their own!!!! We will continue to FIGHT for our place that has already been earned! WTH!!!!! SMH! We are building a life of hindrance instead of a life of abundance. Why are we ok with this??? Enough is enough! Hoping for a better day soon!
