I need a different job. This one is breaking my heart. An older (80s) couple called in to renew their prescriptions and they both had a LOT. Medicare eliminated coverage for many common old people meds and raised co-pay on others. Health carriers did the same. This couples total co-pay for the month was over $2k. Last year it was $250. They were actually arguing over who would get what meds filled..she wanted some his filled & he wanted some of hers filled. They ended up with a couple each but the lists exceeded 10 each. The govt is trying to kill off the elderly and I cant watch. My job is to basically tell the elderly you are screwed and there is nothing you can do about it. Not allowed to tell them to shop around (most of them cant anyway) or to tell them to contact the pharmaceutical company to see if they will help. I do tell some of them anyway... and I tell ALL of them to contact their dr for generics and samples. Crying shame they work all their lives & get treated this way.
