I need the communitys help. On Tuesday, my blue nose Pit mix jumped over my fence, killed at kitty and jumped back over in the blink of an eye. I was unaware that anything even happened besides some barking. Until I got one of the worst phone calls today that I can even imagine. Douglas County will consider my dog, Smokey, a dangerous animal and I have a couple of options. I could build a 6x6 cage for him that he can never leave unless he is muzzled and leashed which is heartbreaking to me bc his favorite thing to do is run free in the desert. Or I could have him euthanized. Or, kindof the loophole here, if you will, is that if I find him an adopter out of the county, they will not have to follow Douglas Countys requirements. So this is my last hope. Smoke is 2 and a half, about 90 pounds, altered, know sit, stay, lay down, shake, roll over and bang He was trained by the PUPS program out of carson city animal shelter. no unaltered male dogs, or cats. He can jump a 6 foot fence if he sees something hes interested in. I have small children, 6 and under and hes perfect with them. My one year old is always in his face so theres no threat there. He loves to cuddle and thinks hes a lap dog. The sweetest thing ive ever seen . I have two other dogs that he gets along with just fine.
