I never gave a bio, or posted info about myself when I joined this page, but, now that I am seeing more and more posts from young, and not young, people asking questions about the military, and getting answers, both good and bad, I figure I should share my background in order that my input can be either given consideration, or dismissed, as desired. My professional and life experience is varied. I served 8 years on active duty in the Marine Corps, entering service in 1983. I was a pogue. My first enlistment was open contract, where I believed the recruiter, who told me to go open if I wanted Infantry. I got stuck in supply. I did a year in Okinawa, with 7th Comm, and did a brief stint in 1 FSSG in a medical logistics company, then transferred to MSSG-11, 11th MAU (now MEU), doing two Westpac deployments as the medical supply NCO. I reenlisted into the air wing, serving another 4 years as an avionics tech, working on fire control radar and nav radar for the A-6 and EA6-B. I left active duty, and enlisted in the Army NG, 11B/M (Infantry). I was a dismount Infantry team and squad leader. I interservice transferred to the Air Guard, serving as a Security Forces NCO. After 9/11, my unit was activated on 9/28/ 2001. I was deployed to Afghanistan as a member of a security team for a TALCE in Mazar-I-Sharif from 12/01 thru 5/02. I later participated in Joint Detainee Operations, eventually deactivating in September, 2002. In 2005, I volunteered for another active stint, serving as a PSD Agent for Gen. Abizaid, at CENTCOM, with multiple missions in Iraq, A-stan, Qatar, and Poland. I retired with over 20 years of combined service in 2006. I was never a high speed operator. But I was lucky enough to do some fun and interesting things, and work with some wonderful people. I have been a Police Officer since 1991, beginning my career working for a small agency for 9 years, leaving as a Sgt and 2IC, and, the last 14 with Seattle PD. I am currently a Patrol Officer, and Hostage Negotiator. I have a wide range of LE training and experiences. I wont list all of those here. I am happy to answer what questions I can, and will give my perspective whenever it is asked for. Stay safe.
