I owe an update on Packer to you all. Packer is the young Anatolian mix who has severe blunt force trauma from a blow to the head which resulted in a broken jaw frozen in place. Packer cannot eat normally or drink and he cannot pant. Left untreated, this dog would die. Packer survived Round 1 of the medical process. Because of the jaw being frozen, they were unable to intubate him for the cat scan we did. The cat scan showed that Packers zygomatic arch and a broken TMJ joint. The repair is going to be removing the callus (bony) that developed after the injury to try to free the jaw. From there, its a surgery free for all. We have great hopes for him to lead a happy and relatively normal life. Surgery is set for next Wednesday, and I will update you on how it goes.
