I painted today... Oil on linen... 150 cm x 100... I started painting on the linen in 2003... I painted a woman in a negligee then... The painting hang in the studio of my wife for years... I started to dislike the painting more and more... But my wife liked the painting... Luckely... After ten years she got tired of the painting too... And I got her permission to paint it over... No woman in a negligee anymore... Two talking birds and some flowers and trees took over... Why writing this ? I was thinking about Marlene Dumas... She has an exhibition in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. I saw some interviews with her... She gave me the impression she would like to erase some old paintings of her too... I think every painter knows this feeling... Maybe every artist... Maybe everybody...
