I posted a photo of a pie I made yesterday and someone commented That is not on your diet. What diet? I am here for only a short time. I dont intend to spend the last few years of my life worrying about a freaking diet. Im going to be just like my grandmother, who was the most fun person Ive ever been around. She was a overweight and HAPPY. The entire family fussed at her and watched everything she put in her mouth. Finally, one day at the dinner table, while she was enjoying something the family thought she should not eat, she calmly made this announcement: I am 70 years old. I enjoy eating. If what I eat takes a few years off my life, so be it. Now, with all due respect, LEAVE ME ALONE. I have never forgotten that. And when I was in my 20s and 30s, struggling with my weight, trying to stay thin, I was taking unhealthy diet pills by the handsful because thats the ONLY way I could keep myself at an acceptable weight according to society. Oh, dont get me wrong. I LOVED being thin and I exploited it to the inth degree wearing outrageous clothing and thinking I was all that when I was nothing but a diet pill strung out pathetic follower of the beautiful people. When I finally found myself, I came to the realization that I was never going to be one of the thin and in crowd. For Gods sake, I was born weighing in at nearly ten pounds. Maw-Maw (my chubby grandlovermother) had lots of worthy advice for me. And although I didnt really appreciate it at the time, I hear loud and clear what she was saying to me. God made some people tall, some people short, some people thin and some people fat. Dont worry about whats on the outside but focus instead on being the sweet person you are on the inside. Looks will fade but inner beauty is everlasting. My Maw-Maw was a wise woman. If you dont want to see my food pictures, dont look. Dont try to discourage me from posting them by attempting to shame me. Lay off of me about a freakin diet. Im not going there.
