A painful throb in my skull woke me. Blue dress pants, tie, and white button down shirt on. Room spinning, one foot on floor. Gurgled stomach and raced for the porcelain god. Took pants off, forgot combat boots on and fell down. Laughter and brain pulsing pain put me in the fetal position. Moments later. I gathered myself downed to Goody’s headache powders mixed in water. Unlaced boots, showered, and brushed my teeth. Lit a cigarette. From the back of the shotgun apartment I noticed the front door was wide open. I found keys in the door, Red on my porch guarding $300 in tips. World secure, back to bed I went. Caffeine began to function as the sun took away night. Grateful to have emptied my stomach contents and annoyed to be wide-awake. I found the beginnings of a sandwich and a glass of vodka on my kitchen table, vodka back in freezer. The room temperature pound of turkey and cole slaw screamed danger zone being tossed in the garbage. Body awake, brain in haze, I know I have stuff to do. Made naked pancakes. Went for a hard and fast bike ride. Took a nap till noon.
