I received a call at work today from a customer asking for a service we have only supplied for one customer to date. The strange thing about the phone call was that she was calling from Pacific Palisades in CA. She informed me she had received a sample flood inspection report from FEMA and was hoping she could set up a consulting appointment with the person who had created this report. I pulled up the report and and realized James Hardin had created the report. I remembered him working really hard on this report in October for over a month. He had convinced our boss this was worth taking our time with and went on to set up a yearly maintenance contract with our customer for the next 5 years which guaranteed they would reach out to us very time there was a hurricane watch and preparation for a hurricane needed to be made. He had planned to market this to many of our customers $$$. It was brilliant. It turns out, FEMA is using this report as an example and are sending it out nationally to people who reach out to them looking for guidelines on how to approach the new regulations that FEMA has set up regarding flood insurance. Of course, FEMA is not smart or nice enough to set up a template and so they stumbled upon James report and are using this beautiful piece of art as an example. I couldnt help but tear up. And I cant help but smile even as Im writing this. Im so proud of him. He had come so far with his career and I can only imagine what he would have accomplished in the future. I know many of you guys in his life didnt get to spend a lot of time with him or talk to him much the past 2 years. This was because he was so busy building a career and a new company. I am so grateful to have spent the last year working directly with him and learning from him. His professionalism surpassed any other person of his age. Watching him in action was enlightening, it truly brightened my days. His passion and grace were unlike any one elses and I find myself living my life and enjoying my career the way he did. I am proud of you James. I love you with my heart and soul.
