I received this lovely message today from Paige B- John Paul College Coffs Harbour. Hello, this might be a bit random however, I felt the need to share this. I just finished year 12 in Coffs Harbour and thus have now finished my HSC. For my HSC visual arts major work I focused on the topic of youth suicide. Having been through a rough patch of depression myself, and nearly loosing a few of my friends to it as well, I have seen the effects depression can have particularly on young people. Although creating work with such a strong issue was difficult, especially during high school, I got to see the exhibition in Newcastle which had a strong impact on not only my art making but my perspective on the issue. I submitted my work and was happy with my results, although I was more pleased that I was able to raise awareness of this issue and create a conversation about the topic through art. Id just like to say thank you for creating this page, as it was highly influential not only towards my work but to me personally. X Well done Paige :) and to our stART talking families this is because of you that the message continues and will ensure your children are NEVER forgotten xxx
