I recently stumbled on a TV Game Show that looks very good in my opinion. It is called The Winner Is by Star Nigeria. Initially, I thought to myself, Wow! This is a laudable effort by a Nigerian brand, creating what could become a successful international franchise. I researched and discovered it is an existing US Show that airs on NBC. As I watched the show further, I appreciated the absolutely beautiful set design and construction, lighting design and camera angles. The sound was great and Utis delivery as the presenter was fine. Then something began to stick out like a sore thumb riddled with witlow. The entire audience did NOT look Nigerian. This pricked my curiosity and I began making calls to industry fellows. I asked which production house was doing such a great job and why the audience looked so out of place for a Nigerian show. I eventually found out that this show is: - Produced and Shot in South Africa - Has audience that are South Africans Now my questions to the entire Star Nigeria team and their accompanying agency are: 1. Who drinks Star beer in the first place? Apart from South Africans that visit or work in Nigeria, how many of those shown on screen have EVER tasted Star beer? 2. How does Start beer make its revenue? Isnt it almost entirely from Nigerian consumers? 3. What prompted the decision to produce this show abroad? 4. How does the voting even work? Is it open to Nigerians living in South Africa alone? How transparent is the entire Shows process? I really wonder how long Nigerians will continue taking crap like this. A Nigerian brand, that has grown on Nigerian consumers, made Nigerian money has decided to ship so much money and employment out of Nigeria to a country that does NOT even consume the product! Is there any justification for this??? https://youtube/watch?v=WVI5FMEshnc
