Nay Min, a BBC radio stringer, provided crucial news to correspondent Christopher Gunness about the violent crackdown during which thousands were killed in the 1988 uprising in Burma. He was arrested twice and spent 16 years, 7 days and 4 hours in prison where he was brutally tortured. Today, for the first time in public, he was honored for his courage and conviction for Press Freedom at a panel with Bertil Lintner, Than Lwin Htun and Zin Linn who gave him the award at the East West Center International Media Conference.
