I remember all the way back to this day in 2001, I was sitting in my eighth-grade history class and we were all discussing our upcoming trip to Washington DC, everyone was very excited. All of the sudden the principal came over the intercom speaker and asked all classes to tune their TVs to a specific channel as a horrifying event unfolded right before our eyes.. As the day progressed tensions increased as the attacks continued. I remember leaving school and going over to my friends house, whose uncle worked in the towers and was supposed to be there that day, we worried and we cried, and then the phone call from him came in saying that he was safe and we are all so relieved. As we continue to watch the coverage of the events that unfolded that day it became more and more evident just how lucky my friend and her family was. My heart and prayers go out to all the families who lost somebody that day and who continue to struggle without that special person in their lives. NEVER FORGET!
