I remember sending out an e-mail (e-mail was the Facebook of the day) with a fancy graphic of Ian Rush & John Barnes, about how Liverpool will never die...for then, it felt inconceivable...The Mighty Reds! how?...Liverpool will rule the roost for ever -thats what I told myself. An old uncle of mine who had lived in Dublin in the 70s, was a staunch Nottingham Forest FC (2 Champions League titles by the way & the richest club in England in 1975,they even made a movie about Brian Clough the legendary manager) fan warned me of this thing and I did not listen...He said I reminded him of his younger self.I said to him, Liverpool is not like Notting Forest, it is a global brand, we have Rush & Dalglish and Paisley at the helm, we also have a young lads -Barnes, Fowler, Mcmanaman coming up! So I asked him, who can stand in our way? He said the same force that stood in Nottingham Forests way, it also stood in Parmas (Italy) way, Deportivo la Coruna faced it & succumbed, Leeds United,Blackburn Rovers, Benfica, Marseilles,Getafe,Coventry City,Preston Northend (the first champions),Ipswich Town.. the list is endless. This thing is called TRANSITION....the end or an era!.When the top dog becomes the ordinary dog. When a Manchester United celebrates being 5th after 11 games! ha ha ha! I have waited for a very long time for this....just like my uncle said. Man u fans actually BELIEVE they will rule the roost forever (thats the special part) LOL! Dont we all just love football!
