I remember very long hot summers, a gang of us would go out the road leaving early morning, We would drink water from the pumps at the roadside, eat crab apples, even carrots from the fields. We would climb trees and build dens. Sometimes we would go to the Majors, the boys would swim but the girls wouldnt because there were supposedly otters in the lake. I remember jumping across the stream to get to the lake and landing on a wasps nest, getting stung to bits and having to walk all the way home and get no sympathy when i got there, because everyone was out. I remember Kevin power breaking both his arms somewhere near mary nolans pretending he was Tarzan, and a woman pushed him home in her pram. I also remember in the top richardsons field jumping off the hay bales and getting my first kiss from Billy Ryan, (aged 7).
