I ripped into someone the other night here on SOCON for mentioning an exotic disease that seems to be all the rage right now. Let me explain..... In this country, we have tens of thousands of people dying each year from chronic disease.......diseases we know about, and know the cure for. I am sorry, I will not devote extra-ordinary attention to a disease that in the US has taken only 2-20 lives over those diseases that have claimed millions in the US. I refuse to promote fear, or allow it to be used by others for the fear factor of using that diseases name for gaining attention. The disease in question is easily controlled and containable in a first world setting.......heck, if you wanna know an emerging disease I think you should be eyes on? Enterovirus 68........its killing kids in this country all over the US....and no one really knows how they are getting it. Now, thats something to be concerned about. So keep your exotic West African virus that has already been in this country and contained with 20+ year old tech back then........Ill continue to look at whats killing Americans by the droves today. I am not apologizing for my attitude, just explaining it. I will definitely continue to rip in to people that use that particular disease as a segue into what they want to talk about. And wont apologize then either. Doc out
