I saw some footage on the telly yesterday of people re-enacting D Day. They started from Portsmouth and did stuff. I didnt see anyone vomiting on the ships. Thats what my Dad told me about. Feeling slightly sick when leaving. And, given that he was a worse sailor than me, being violently sick sailing across the English Channel. He never really talked about the shelling of his ship. Or the fact that people were seriously trying to kill them. Or that the ship sank mid Channel. He and all the people like him were very ordinary people doing extraordinary things. They were mighty. Its the 70th Anniversary of D Day today. Thanks Jim Feltham - and all of those ordinary people who were mighty.
