I see one trailer for the new Tom Cruise movie and I think: I put the wrong idea on paper. 15 years ago, I had an idea for a story for a soldier who fights the same battle over and over and goes back in time because of some MacGuffin, but I couldnt think of an ending and thought it too Groundhog Day. Instead, I wrote out Awesome Starship Captain who fights space wolves (my Burdelik friends know all about this one--it could totally star Bruce Willis and Andie McDowell) and The Neville Longbottom story Kristi Blake Farrington (It will probably take me 7 years to write it all out) and Distant future galactic empire facing coup and alien first contact attack (I love the characters but I cant get them from point A to B to C to D). Whats next for Tom Cruise? Well respected general must defend seeming bad guy in court martial who really is responsible for keeping America/Space good guys free? Anyone in California know a screenwriter? Marcus Eliopulos, Casey Hayes, Sarah Jarmon? Sigh.
