I so dearly love my job and every single person in that home! I thought today about how I would feel if I ever had to leave and I got teary eyed. I KNOW each person, I invest my time, my energy and my love into their lives. Each is special to me. I LIVE to see their smiles and feel their love:) my favorite feeling in the world is holding a wrinkled hand and singing some old song that brings back a flood of memories to them. Tonight before I left, someone Im the dining room requested I sing Misty. I did, closing my eyes and swaying like the thousand violins mentioned in the lyrics were playing there with me! I sang the last note and opened my eyes to see about 45 smiling faces and heard their applause. That applause is the best.... Soft old hands that have worked a lifetime before me, hands that fought to give me freedom, hands that dont make much noise anymore.... They make the most heartfelt applause. If youre reading this and you work in long term care, REMEMBER why you started this job... Why you love it! Its the people. I love these people and I am beyond blessed to be able to spend every day with them!
