I sold my mobile home in French Gulch. I listed the washer and dryer on Craigslist and two men made an appointment to for 10am to pick them up. With an hour to spare, I loaded the washer with Kiki’s re-usable diapers and BAM! The two guys show up a half an hour early. Ugh! That’s ok, there are facilities in the trailer park. But I have no change. Town is 20 miles away. Change, hmmm…there is that slit in the floor of the living room where I saw Evi, the three year old delightedly emptying her piggy bank and depositing the coins, one by one into the floor. With a flashlight, hunting knife and two spoons, I began to retrieve the money. Desperate right? After all my FB friends read this, they’ll be sending me $5 checks, like grandma used to. Well to first one that does, I thought, I’ll share the gold nuggets and company script I found in the floor. After all, French Gulch is where the gold rush began and still has California’s largest functioning gold mine. It pollutes the creek, despite what they say, and is one reason for leaving. But, finding gold happens “all the time”, here. Well, thank you for thinking of sending me checks in my hour of need, but its not necessary and I did not find any gold in floor. Perhaps, next time.
