I started my martial arts journey almost 32 years ago to the day. I have never taken a break from training during this time, even if I was located somewhere away from a club, I maintained my own training and taught people privately from home. Over the years my instructors have spent countless hours teaching me not just martial arts techniques, but life long lessons on becoming a better person (some of these lessons I was too young and immature to appreciate at the time). I now spend my time giving back to others, trying to pass on the same technical knowledge, and martial lessons to help people develop a fulfilling life. It saddens me that the people I have put the most time into, that have graded to instructor level and / or represented Blaster Kickboxing, fail to understand the real "Martial Arts Way". It is as this stage you are supposed to re-pay the hours your instructor has invested in you, by being loyal to your club and assist passing on the same knowledge to the next generation. I hope it is just a temporary problem at our gym, and not something shared at other Dojos. I would hate to think that loyalty really is a thing of the past.
